Sophie is a bilingual Registered Physiotherapist from Nova Scotia who earned their Master of Science in Physiotherapy at Dalhousie University in 2026. Prior to physiotherapy, Sophie completed their Honours in Kinesiology from Dalhousie University (2020) and provided sport coverage for Saint Mary’s University Women’s Rugby and Hockey teams. This led to an opportunity to help manage the Polyclinic at the 2023 North American Indigenous Games. During physiotherapy school, Sophie became interested rehabilitation for chronic health and neurological conditions, and worked as a research assistant with the Rehabilitation, Balance and Exercise Lab (ReBEL) at Dalhousie. It is through this work that Sophie gained extensive knowledge on cutting-edge advancements and evidence-based research in sports medicine, orthopedics, and stroke rehabilitation.
As a genderqueer physiotherapist, Sophie is a member of the Queer Physiotherapy Collective (QPC) where they advocate to enhance gender-affirming services in healthcare across Canada. In their practice, Sophie is interested in pre- and post-operative care for people who access gender-affirming surgeries and helped develop the physiotherapy program at the Halifax Sexual Health Centre. Sophie also plans to complete their Pelvic Health Levels in the fall of 2026 to expand her practice for gender expansive individuals.
Sophie enjoys working with people of all ages and abilities, and their approach to physiotherapy emphasizes comprehensive assessments and individualized treatment through manual therapy, exercise prescription and education. Sophie believes that a person’s injury doesn’t exist in isolation to the rest of the body or their life. Outside of the clinic, Sophie enjoys running, coaching Special Olympics Soccer, and mountain biking.
