Plantar
Fasciitis
Plantar fasciitis is a common cause of heel and arch
pain. Plantar fasciitis is inflammation of the plantar
fascia (strong band that connects between the heel and
the 1st toe) which is located in the arch of the foot.
Symptoms include pain with walking (especially first
steps in the morning and during toe off) which decreases
with mild activity, pain to touch inside of heel and/or
mid arch, and pain when pulling ankle and big toe upward.
Treatment includes:
Education about the condition (proper footwear, orthotics)
and how to avoid making it worse.
Therapeutic modalities to improve circulation and/or
reduce inflammation and pain such as ultrasound, laser,
interferential current, electrical muscle stimulation,
acupuncture.
Exercises to stretch or strengthen the appropriate muscles
or stabilize the joint.
Manual therapy to improve the movement in the area.
Tape to support and rest the irritated tissues while
they heal and help return to activity sooner.

Ankle sprain:
One of the most common sports injuries. It's an overstretching of the ligaments (bands that attach bone to bone) causing pain, discoloration, swelling, decreased mobility and difficulty with walking or bearing weight. Ankle sprains usually occur by forcing the ankle beyond its normal range of motion resulting in stretching and in some cases tearing of the ligaments. Most commonly the injury is located on the lateral or outside of the ankle.
Treatment includes:
Education about the condition and how to avoid making
it worse.
Therapeutic modalities to improve circulation and/or
reduce inflammation and pain such as ultrasound, laser,
interferential current, electrical muscle stimulation,
acupuncture.
Exercises to stretch or strengthen the appropriate muscles
or stabilize the joint.
Manual therapy to improve the movement in the area.
Tape or bracing to protect the ligaments while they heal and help return to activity sooner.

Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome:
Tarsal tunnel syndrome is a pinch or entrapment of a nerve of the ankle. It is similar to carpal tunnel of the wrist. It is a result of compression on the tibial nerve causing symptoms of burning or numbness in the sole of the foot, especially worse at night. Symptoms usually worsen with weight bearing activities.
Treatment includes:
Education about the condition and how to avoid making
it worse.
Therapeutic modalities to improve circulation and/or
reduce inflammation and pain such as ultrasound, laser,
interferential current, electrical muscle stimulation,
acupuncture.
Exercises to stretch or strengthen the appropriate muscles
or stabilize the joint.
Manual therapy to improve the movement in the area.

Turf Toe Syndrome:
Turf Toe Syndrome occurs when a person’s shoe grips the surface during a sudden stop, causing the foot to slide forward inside the shoe jamming the big toe. This causes overstretching of the ligaments and joint capsule under the joint at the base of the big toe. Symptoms include swelling and tenderness at the base joint of the big toe, with pain on stretching and bending the toe. The major site of pain is specifically present under the big toe.
Treatment includes:
Education about the condition and how to avoid making
it worse.
Therapeutic modalities to improve circulation and/or
reduce inflammation and pain such as ultrasound, laser,
interferential current, electrical muscle stimulation,
acupuncture.
Exercises to stretch or strengthen the appropriate muscles
or stabilize the joint.
Manual therapy to improve the movement in the area.
Tape to protect the ligaments while they heal and help return to activity sooner.
